The Secret Place: Learning to abide - David Mitts

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalms 91:1)

In these tumultuous times abiding in the shelter or the secret place of the Most High is a key survival strategy for personal and ministry effectiveness.  In the secret place, the hidden place we learn to abide in His shadow.

If we remember that it was in Peter’s shadow that miracles occurred.

So that they [even] kept carrying out the sick into the streets and placing them on couches and sleeping pads, [in the hope] that as Peter passed by, at least his shadow might fall on some of them. And the people gathered also from the towns and hamlets around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those troubled with foul spirits, and they were all cured. (Acts 5:15-16)

The shadow is the place of miracles, the place of protection.  The key is to dwell in the secret place.  What exactly is the secret place?
The key is to look back a few verses in the book of acts to see what attracted the shadow.
In Acts 4, Peter and John had been arrested for preaching in Yeshua’s name.  After their release and prayer God’s glory manifested.  This is so important t.  Let’s read it:

And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them. And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all. For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles' feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need. Now Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means Son of Encouragement), and who owned a tract of land, sold it and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet.
(Acts 4:31-37)

Out of this came the shadow, the secret place.  You might say, I don’t see the connection.  Well I think the connection strikes right at the heart of what this gospel is truly all about, covenant community.  You see, we live in a time when Yeshua warned of anti-messiah, antichrist and that the spirit of the age would be marked by lawlessness and coldness of love.

"Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. (Matthew 24:12).

Now, let’s ask what is lawlessness?  It is a disregard for standards, for God’s ways.  In this age God becomes trivial, passé.  But even more insidious is the result, love growing cold.  Now, we say my love isn’t growing cold!  Well, let’s look at it a bit and see the connection to lawlessness and then to the secret place.  What is the center point of love?

Love is sacrifice.  God so loved the world that He sacrificed His son.  Love is always marked by a sacrifice of our will for a greater love.  Love has to include Law, Torah.  What do I mean by that??  I mean that in order for love to exist, it has to exist inside order, boundaries.  Love exists inside of covenant.  God gave His Son, sacrificed Him to the brutality of man’s lawlessness, sin, to honor covenant.  It was the boundary of Law, or Torah, that demanded sacrifice.

We don’t like that.  We don’t want to sacrifice.  We don’t want to commit.  We prefer to live in the fringes of all possibilities; ready to bolt the minute we feel any kind of threat to our ego.

You see what was released in the book of acts was something I believe that was a foreshadow. You see the Spirit came in power and what was formed was sacrifice and covenant community.

Now, today we have 2 forces in the body that are in opposition, One is the corporation.   This is the business church model.  The second is a reaction to the first, which is the individualized prayer life, where it is about God and me.  Both of these will keep us out of the secret place.  The corporation is all about works and productivity. It is about belonging to a large impersonal thing with its own identity and in that a pride of identity becomes very apparent.  I have heard the corporation speak brand awareness, like Pepsi.  Complete with coffee mugs and t-shirt and cute program names, the corporation keeps believers in a form of slick godliness with no real power.  Why?  No sacrifice except maybe a little money and time.

What is never a part of the corporation is transparency and risk of being known.  In fact the main reason it works so well is it avoids transparency and being known at all costs.  Instead we know each other as good Christian brothers members of the big company.

The other ditch is the God and me.  This is the counterfeit secret place of my own solitary relationship with God.  Again what is not present is any kind of transparency and certainly no accountability.  Many tears may be shed but what is missing is God’s power and life.

These are reserved for the lovers, those who will sacrifice.  Sacrifice what?? Everything.  All was sacrificed in the book of acts.  The result was the shadow.

Why am I saying all of this?  Because we want to have revival, we want to be known by the Lord.  How will He know us??

By our love.  But it is by sacrificial love, covenant love.

The Presence of the Lord - Succoth - David Mitts

The Presence of The Lord
My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest, Exodus 33:14

As we stand here in the Feast of Succoth, our Torah portion speaks of the Presence of The Lord being with Moses and the people of God and that His Presence brings rest.
A couple of words that I want to look at in this Scripture to gain an insight and direct our spiritual activation for this Shabbat in the midst of the Feast.
Presence:
Panim
There are 3 definitions for this word:
·         Face
45 muscles in the face, the majority of which are for emotional expression
·         Inside
Misrad HaPanim, Ministry of the Interior- This determines who is allowed to enter the kingdom.
·         Before
Lifne- to stand before someone, to present yourself for evaluation, for favor or for disfavor. There is a vulnerability of transparency.
Rest:
·         Nuach
This is where we get Noah from, the one who brought rest to the world from the judgment of God.
This is a picture of salvation, the rest of God.
the word is a 2 letter root of Nun-Chet.  If you reverse the root you get grace, Chen.
The word picture is a fence around a seed.  So the rest comes from the eternal seed being in our being kept there by the fence of God's divine protection.
Now if we look at the Scripture in the context of Succoth, we begin to see that the dwelling place is where the Presence is and this is where our Destiny is contained through the seed.
Then he said to Him, “ If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. 16 For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:15-16.
Moses is showing us the key to our inheritance.  The Presence, brings us inside His heart, reveals who He is and gives us intimacy which allows for His favor, His grace, Chen to be upon us and that distinguishes us from all of the people of the earth.
The word distinguish is the same root as the word for wonders, peleh.  it is a picture of the anointing, the Holy Purpose.  We are distinguished, made a wonder by His Presence in our lives, His seed within us bringing forth our destiny, our peculiarity,
17 The Lord said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.
A person's name contains their destiny.  it is the prophetic declaration of divine purpose.  You see the devil wants us to feel generic BUT we are NOT generic, we are name brand.
In Israel. the Holocaust memorial is called Yad Va-Shem.  Shem means the name but it also means the remembering of who we are.
We spoke at Yom Teruah about remembrance, the importance of remembering who we are.  This is distinguishing, the remembering of the uniqueness of each person.  Judgment is really a forgetting of who someone is.  It makes people generic.
Judgment  also puts us in the place of God, claiming to know good and evil.  This separates His Presence from us and us from His favor and our destiny.
When we judge, we lose our name.  How?? By the loss of who others are to God.
Matthew 7:1-6 (NASB)
Matthew 7
Judging Others
[7:1] “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. [2] “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. [3] “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? [4] “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? [5] “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
[6] “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Judging is according to a standard of measure.  The problem is who determines the scales.  When are offended, our standard of measure is the pain.  The pain is a form of glory or weight.  Pain, or hurt always challenges us in our identity.  It is in pain that the  enemy is able to insert lies.  These lies maintain the pain and set up a stronghold.  This changes our seeing, our measurement.  We "see" other through the pain they have "caused" us.  This is what the Bible calls a "vain" imagination.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5(NKJV)
[3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. [4] For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, [5] casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
You see these high things are judgments that change the very knowledge of God, the seed that is in the heart that is designed to bring forth destiny.  This is what His face , His Presence is about.  It is offense that corrupts the glory, not only in how we treat others but in whom we then become, a high thing that is exalted against the true name, the true character of God.
In Succoth as we tabernacle with God and with each other let's purpose in our heart to be the dwelling place of His Glory.
As we prepare for Destiny House event tonight, in our hearts let's allow Him to reveal what hurts and judgments we are carrying that are corrupting the Glory.
Proverbs 19:11 (NKJV) [11] The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, And his glory is to overlook a transgression.

There is a wisdom which is cucial for our destiny.  It is the wisdom of being slow to anger.  It is the wisdom of overlooking transgressions or offenses.  It is the wisdom of the Secret Place, where the Presence of the LORD is our defense.

New Song Released! Lisa Mitts - Waiting for You

Hey Everyone:

Awesome news!!  Lisa's new CD single is out!!  Here's the link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/lisa-mitts/id359488551.  Let's all invest the 99 cents and tell everyone you know to do the same and flood iTunes with sales!!  This is great opportunity to make a difference and of course own a great song and be a blessing.  If enough people buy it, then iTunes will feature it on the front page - this would be amazing because it is very hard for an indie artist like Lisa to make it on iTunes.

Also remember that a portion of the profits from this song and others coming on the new album goes to Destiny House and helping the victims of human trafficking!

With love and appreciation,

David

Yom Kippur - He's Got You Covered - Charles D Harris

Day of Atonement - Yom Kippur

Let’s look at Day of Atonement from the perspective of the cross.  We want to have revelation not just information.

Hebrews 9
[Hbr 9:1-12  KJV] 1 Then verily the first [covenant] had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein [was] the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. 3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. 6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service [of God]. 7 But into the second [went] the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and [for] the errors of the people: 8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9 Which [was] a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 [Which stood] only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed [on them] until the time of reformation. 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].

The word translated  redemption is actually the word atonement. i.e., He obtained “atonement” once and for all.  We need to understand what atonement is because we are atoned for and for a lot of us we don't really know what that means  We may have a vague concept of it but not a reality.  The Day of Atonement is a powerful process we should wake up to.

IN Hebrew the word for atonement comes from root Kafar.  Kafar literally means to cover something.  Even before it was meant to cover something it was actual word for a substance, and the substance is pitch

Pitch’s first use in the bible is Gen 6  - Judgement / Covenant
[Gen 6:13-22 KJV] 13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this [is the fashion] which thou shalt make it [of]: The length of the ark [shall be] three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; [with] lower, second, and third [stories] shalt thou make it. 17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein [is] the breath of life, from under heaven; [and] every thing that [is] in the earth shall die. 18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every [sort] shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep [them] alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every [sort] shall come unto thee, to keep [them] alive. 21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather [it] to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

כָּפַר Kafar  to cover, purge, make an atonement, make reconciliation, cover over with pitch

We see judgement coming to the earth in the form of massive quantities of water (Maktesh).  We see massive judgement comes upon the earth and we see this group of animals and people that are protected from the judgement.  What protects them from the water?  Kafar (pitch). There are other boats in the time however none knew they would have to withstand such massive amounts of water except the Lord. He covered inside and out with Kafar.  No way for water to get in.  He protected internally and externally from the water with the pitch.

Get the spiritual picture here.  You have judgement all around you and you are covered with atonement. And it is impossible for the judgement to enter in. because you have the substance that keeps it out.  Hebrew goes from the concrete to the abstract.  English goes from the abstract to the concrete.  Kafar first existed as a substance.  Before it had a spiritual reality it had a practical reality.  The practical reality was applied in a spiritual context and brought about a spiritual reality.

The cross was about pitch.
Noah is about to set the framework for salvation.  Whatever substance he uses is going to be the framework root of all salvation. So when he puts pitch on the boat, he is covering the boat with the same force thats gonna cover you. That is what’s defined as covenant.  Before an animal is kill before a drop of blood is shed, pitch defines covenant. See how practical God is.  He lives and creates reality.  Pitch not only keeps judgement out, it keeps God in

Another way to look at it as insulation.  Insulation allows power to flow through the wires
Pitch allowed great power to move inside that ship.

All of this is a revelation of the son of God who was slain before the foundation of the world.
Colossians 1:13-17 KJV 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Lets look at another dimension of this atonement...
Exodus 21:29 NET 29 But if the ox had the habit of goring, and its owner was warned, and he did not take the necessary precautions, and then it killed a man or a woman, the ox must be stoned and the man must be put to death. 30 If a ransom is set for him, then he must pay the redemption for his life according to whatever amount was set for him. 31 If the ox gores a son or a daughter, the owner will be dealt with according to this rule.

First we had pitch. Now atonement also can make up for something you did wrong (mercy from owner).  Because of mercy a price can be paid. God was going to have mercy so he put provision.   When price is paid sin can be released.
Exodus 30:11-16 NET 11 The LORD spoke to Moses: 12 “When you take a census of the Israelites according to their number, then each man is to pay a ransom for his life to the LORD when you number them, so that there will be no plague among them when you number them. 13 Everyone who crosses over to those who are numbered is to pay this: a half shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel weighs twenty gerahs). The half shekel is to be an offering to the LORD. 14 Everyone who crosses over to those numbered, from twenty years old and up, is to pay an offering to the LORD. 15 The rich are not to increase it, and the poor are not to pay less than the half shekel when giving the offering of the LORD, to make atonement for your lives. 16 You are to receive the atonement money from the Israelites and give it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD, to make atonement for your lives.”

Now atonement has extended beyond individual who has done something wrong to atone for an entire community. Rich shall not give more or poor less. Atonement transcends status. Jesus dealt with status and favoritism. Everyone can be covered and can participate.
Can you see how this is working its way to the cross.
Let's look at Yom Kippur itself.
Leviticus 23:26-32 26 The LORD spoke to Moses: 27 “The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It is to be a holy assembly for you, and you must humble yourselves and present a gift to the LORD. 28 You must not do any work on this particular day, because it is a day of atonement to make atonement for yourselves before the LORD your God. 29 Indeed, any person who does not behave with humility on this particular day will be cut off from his people. 30 As for any person who does any work on this particular day, I will exterminate that person from the midst of his people! 31 You must not do any work. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all the places where you live. 32 It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must humble yourselves on the ninth day of the month in the evening, from evening until evening you must observe your Sabbath.”

Now we see a national covering.  We have Insulation/power/a ransom paid. We can see looking back from the cross that God's part is making covenant.

What is the people’s part?
Lev 16:1-22 NET 1 The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of Aaron’s two sons when they approached the presence of the LORD and died, 2 and the LORD said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother that he must not enter at any time into the holy place inside the veil-canopy in front of the atonement plate that is on the ark so that he may not die, for I will appear in the cloud over the atonement plate.  3 “In this way Aaron is to enter into the sanctuary – with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4 He must put on a holy linen tunic, linen leggings are to cover his body, and he is to wrap himself with a linen sash and wrap his head with a linen turban. They are holy garments, so he must bathe his body in water and put them on. 5 He must also take two male goats from the congregation of the Israelites for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering. 6 Then Aaron is to present the sin offering bull which is for himself and is to make atonement on behalf of himself and his household. 7 He must then take the two goats and stand them before the LORD at the entrance of the Meeting Tent, 8 and Aaron is to cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the LORD and one lot for Azazel. 9 Aaron must then present the goat which has been designated by lot for the LORD, and he is to make it a sin offering, 10 but the goat which has been designated by lot for Azazel is to be stood alive before the LORD to make atonement on it by sending it away to Azazel into the wilderness.  11 “Aaron is to present the sin offering bull which is for himself, and he is to make atonement on behalf of himself and his household. He is to slaughter the sin offering bull which is for himself, 12 and take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the LORD and a full double handful of finely ground fragrant incense, and bring them inside the veil-canopy. 13 He must then put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of incense will cover the atonement plate which is above the ark of the testimony, so that he will not die. 14 Then he is to take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the eastern face of the atonement plate, and in front of the atonement plate he is to sprinkle some of the blood seven times with his finger.  15 “He must then slaughter the sin offering goat which is for the people. He is to bring its blood inside the veil-canopy, and he is to do with its blood just as he did to the blood of the bull: He is to sprinkle it on the atonement plate and in front of the atonement plate. 16 So he is to make atonement for the holy place from the impurities of the Israelites and from their transgressions with regard to all their sins, and thus he is to do for the Meeting Tent which resides with them in the midst of their impurities. 17 Nobody is to be in the Meeting Tent when he enters to make atonement in the holy place until he goes out, and he has made atonement on his behalf, on behalf of his household, and on behalf of the whole assembly of Israel.  18 “Then he is to go out to the altar which is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He is to take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it all around on the horns of the altar. 19 Then he is to sprinkle on it some of the blood with his finger seven times, and cleanse and consecrate it from the impurities of the Israelites.  20 “When he has finished purifying the holy place, the Meeting Tent, and the altar, he is to present the live goat. 21 Aaron is to lay his two hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the Israelites and all their transgressions in regard to all their sins, and thus he is to put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man standing ready. 22 The goat is to bear on itself all their iniquities into an inaccessible land, so he is to send the goat away in the wilderness.

The high priest takes an offering from all the people.  There are 2 goats - one goes in flames which is blood offering for sin. The other is the scape goat.
Blood is now the pitch covering the altar and the people. Blood is also the ransom or atonement. To get the sins out of the people. Lay hands if the goat confess sins, send goat out of the camp. This is kafar for Aaron, kafar for the people.

Can you see the cross?  He is developing the picture of Messiah.
Humble yourself and keep Sabbath
When we go back to Leviticus 23 where it tells us to keep the feasts these are the two pieces left. Some translations have afflict your souls. Most people take that to mean fast. Humbling is bigger than fasting.  The Hebrew word is   עָנָה `anah
Strongs H6031 KJV: abase self, afflict(-ion, self), chasten self, deal hardly with, defile, exercise, force, gentleness, humble (self), hurt, ravish, submit self, weaken, X in any wise.

Humbling in Hebrew means literally is to lose yourself in another. For example when we are in communication and someone is sharing their heart   Humbling yourself would be to receive conversation. Pride would be to think about what you are going to say so your can sound smart when he is talking. Humility is openness, nothing between us. I'm secure in who I am so I can receive who you are. Some afflict themselves through self loathing and try to fast their way out of it. But if I “loose myself in another”  fasting is a way to quiet my flesh and enable me to get there

Yeshua enables me to enter rest for my soul as my high priest.
Heb 4 NET 1 Therefore we must be wary that, while the promise of entering his rest remains open, none of you may seem to have come short of it. 2 For we had good news proclaimed to us just as they did. But the message they heard did them no good, since they did not join in with those who heard it in faith. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’” And yet God’s works were accomplished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” 5 but to repeat the text cited earlier: “They will never enter my rest!” 6 Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience. 7 So God again ordains a certain day, “Today,” speaking through David after so long a time, as in the words quoted before, “O, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts.” 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken afterward about another day. 9 Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God. 10 For the one who enters God’s rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from his own works. 11 Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.  14 Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way just as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help.

Dealing with revealed sin….our high priest helps purify us
1 John 1:6-9 NET 6 If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.

By deal with and obtaining His rest then I can pour myself into another because I know who I am in Him.

So when we get to this Feast which is about the insulation, which is about the reconciliation, which is about all these things and The Lord tells us to humble ourselves.... Yes we should fast not because we want to afflict ourselves, but because we want to focus ourselves.  We want to listen to him. We want to have nothing between us. We want to be at ONE with him and insulated from the world. We want to be in the atonement. We aren't going to get more "saved" we are going to get more real. People are saved into unreality living to just going to heaven. People are counting on you to be present. The other piece is sabbath. Being with The Lord. Sabbath was created for man so man could be with God.
So we have humility which is about transparency with The Lord, Sabbath about being with The Lord, the atonement to bring oneness and protect that. That's Yom Kippur!
How can we walk in Yom Kippur today - Loosen the burden, set free the captive...
Isa 58 KJV 1Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. 2Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.  3Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou seest not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours. 4Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. 5Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? 6Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? 7Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?  8Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. 9Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; 10And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. 12And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.  13If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
We can't just say Jesus forgive me of my sins and just wait to go to heaven. I have the reality of the insulation and the pitch to walk with a heart of thanksgiving. It’s like in a relay race and I have placed a particular marker and the job is to pass the baton. I have to have that place of intercession and passing the baton reaching out to others
We have to live in the atonement
Matt 25:31-46  31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Intercession
Daniel’s prayer an example of humility…
Daniel 9:4-10 4 I prayed to the LORD my God, confessing in this way: “O Lord, great and awesome God who is faithful to his covenant with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned! We have done what is wrong and wicked; we have rebelled by turning away from your commandments and standards. 6 We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, and to all the inhabitants of the land as well.  7 “You are righteous, O Lord, but we are humiliated this day – the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far away in all the countries in which you have scattered them, because they have behaved unfaithfully toward you. 8 O LORD, we have been humiliated – our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors – because we have sinned against you. 9 Yet the Lord our God is compassionate and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him. 10 We have not obeyed the LORD our God by living according to his laws that he set before us through his servants the prophets.

Daniel did not pray with an individual agenda but considered the behavior of his brethren his own and identified himself with them.  That is focus and humility

Paul had a similar heart for his brethren
Rom 9 NET 1 I am telling the truth in Christ (I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me in the Holy Spirit – 2 I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed – cut off from Christ – for the sake of my people, my fellow countrymen, 4 who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption as sons, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises. 5 To them belong the patriarchs, and from them, by human descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever! Amen.

This is the heart of Yom Kippur!
